Q: Which would make the tire stick out more 3.75 or 4.00 or 4.75?

Backspace is the distance from the mounting surface of the wheel and the back edge of the wheel. Backspace is always expressed in inches. The smaller the backspace is the deeper the wheel lip will be which means the wheel will stick out more on the vehicle.

Q: What is the difference between a long range and a flood beam? Are either also referred to as a fog light?

A flood beam is similar to a fog beam. Both are wide and low. A long range is a pencil style, long range beam. A Driving Beam is somewhere in the middle

Q: What is the cost of mounting and balancing of tires from the package deal? Does the price include center caps and lug nuts?

The package deals include mounting and balancing. We can add the correct lug nut/wheel lock and center caps for your vehicle. Call 1-800-528-3402 for complete details.

Q: Does Desert Rat provide any installation services for suspension lift kits that they sell?

Yes, all of our retail stores can install anything we sell.

Shipping & Returns

Q: What shipping options are available?

Online orders will be shipped through FedEx or USPS, based on the customer's choice at checkout. We ship to P.O. boxes by USPS only. 36" and larger tires and other heavy or palletized items are shipped by commercial truck lines. Those items are best delivered to a business address to avoid home or residential delivery charges which are not included in the free shipping rates.

Q: What about shipping tires? Is it always free?

Shipping tires under 36" diameter is generally no extra charge after a small per tire handling fee of $12.49. Larger tires have higher handling fee's, normally $24.99 but can run higher in 40"+ sizes. The handling fee can be seen in the shopping cart. Any tire over 35" must be shipped to a commercial address. A garage or shop or any normal business, not at a residence. We can ship larger tires directly to a residence but the fees can be up to $250 per set.

Q: Can I buy just 1 tire?

Yes!, any tire is available as a single. Tires under 35" incure no special charges. Tires 35" and over must be shipped by truck line. These shippers have very high minimum charges that make shipping 1 tire impractical. Consider buying at least 2 tires to avoid minimum handling charges of up to $150.

Q: Do you ship outside of the USA?

Desert Rat ships outside of the USA. Canadian postage rates are available in the shopping cart. If you are unable to place your online or have questions regarding shipping, please contact us at or by phone at 1-520-790-9550.

Q: Do you ship to Alaska and Hawaii?

Shipping to Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico is no problem, some small items can be shipped by USPS and may fall under our Free Shipping policy. Larger items and all tires and wheels must ship by Fed Ex or other parcel services and will require additional shipping. The rates are available in our shopping cart shipping calculator, or feel free to call us and ask for a quote.

Q: Do you ship the same day as the order is placed?

In most cases parts orders are shipped the same day if placed by 12:00 PM Arizona Time. Tires and wheels usually ship within 72 hours. If a product is out of stock or requires extra shipping time, you will be contacted.

Q: How do I return a product?

If you need to return a product, please contact us within 14 days of receipt of product by email at us or by calling 1-800-528-3402 or 1-520-790- 9550 for a return authorization number.

Q: Is there a cost on returns?

There is no cost for incorrectlt shipped or new defective items. If a mis-ordered or non-defective item needs to be returned the shipping fees and any re-stocking fees are the customer's responsibility unless otherwise arranged with Desert Rat. Please contact us at 1-800-528-3402 or 1-520-790-9550.
